Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Health and safety code 11590, penal code 1210

I just completed a drug diverson program and July 15, 2003 I went back to court for a dismissal hearing, where my case was dismissed. No one seems to know how long i will be required to be a ''registered drug offender'' under H & S code 11590. The Sheiff's Dept said ''FOR LIFE''. This cannot be right can it?Do I need to re-register annually? When I move? What proof do i have that my case was dismissed as no paperwork was given to me..everyone clapped and congradulated and sent me on my way? I just don't want to be naive next to THE LAW and do anything to get caughtup in their system.

thanks

Check your file in the local court house, some counties have a court houses that handle only criminal cases. You can get a copy of the order of the court dismissing your case.
