Hit and Run

I was driving to work going through the electric gate of my complex and coming to a stop for traffic, a little girl riding a scooter on her way to school appeared from nowhere and before i knew it she was knocked down. I got out of my car and asked if shewas okay. She appologized for not looking where she was going and that she was fine. There was no damage to the scooter, the car and according to her, she was fine.I repeatedly asked if she was alright and she assured me she was, and continued on to school.

One month later I was charged with hit and run. I filled out a statement at the sherrifs station and am now waiting for a reply from the DA,s office.

Do I have anything to worry about. I did not intentionally leave the scene or leave any body injured. She assured me she was fine and that she left.

I don't think you have a problem. However, any time you're dealing with a child there is a problem. They do not have the judgment of an adult.

However there was little or no damage to your car, no damage to the bicycle, and no real injuries to the child. Then there is the fact that the child can identify you. Which rarely happens to a real hit and run victim.

You've been truthful to the police and admitted the incident. Again this rarely happens in a real hit and run.

I doubt anything will come of it. The D. A. has too weak a case because of all the facts set forth above. But there is always a chance for a miscarriage of justice. So say a couple of prayers that the system will work like it should work.
