Hotel rooms are open to a search without a warrent?
The Fourth Amendment applies to hotel rooms, too. They must have a warrant or be able to justify the search under one of the warrant exceptions (consent, exigent circumstances, etc).
I agree with Mr. Dane. Hotel rooms are not exempt from the requirements of the Fourth Amendment. But there are many exceptions to the warrant requirement. If one of them applies to a particular search then there is no need for a warrant, whether the premises are a hotel room, a private home, etc.
