Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My husband is on probation and has been in compliance with it. On the 12th at 7 am he was walking on his way home. A sherriff pulled along side of him and informed him that a stolen vehicle was about a half a block behind him and that he believed my husband was involved with it. Now, my husband is in jail with a charge of vehicle theft, stolen property and a probation hold! If we can't get it dropped, what could he be facing? He has nothing like this on his record before.

. In California GTA is usually charged as a felon, but is a "wobbler".

. Conviction as a felony =16 months to four years in the California State Prison and up to $10,000 in fines, depending on his prior convictions.

Misdemeanor subjects him to a possible maximum one-year county jail sentence. There are many defenses, but he needs the best lawyer he can afford to avoid prison for years.
