Are you being prosecuted now, or have you already been convicted? If there is an ongoing case and you are dissatisfied with your appointed lawyer, you can ask the judge to let you replace her with new counsel. The judge will then hold a confidential hearing with just you, the lawyer and a court reporter. The prosecutor will not be there and will not find out what was said unless you later make an issue of it. At the hearing you can explain why you want to replace your lawyer. If you have a *very* good reason, the judge might agree.
