Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I need to get a lawyer for my husband. He is innocent of the crime he is being accused of. His friend and him got into an arguement with a neighbor who called the police and told them that they had a gun and were trying to steal his car. I begged the police to fingerprint the car to prove my husbands innocence but they never impounded the car nor did they fingerprint it. I have $600 left on my credit cards and would happily sign an agreement or contract stating that all fees must be paid by March 2012. I always get about $8000 back in taxes and would give away every dime to have him home. I can show proof that I get this amount each year. I have all my tax papers from the previous years. Can anyone help us??? My children and I need him. We can not stand by and watch him go to jail for something he didn't do. This whole situation has been stressful for the entire family. Please help. Thank you.

It sounds like he is being charged with Auto Theft, And Assault with a Deadly Weapon and possibly robbery..It is difficult to tell from the little facts you mentioned. If you can't afford private counsel, he should apply for the Public Defender asap.
