marijuana punishment

i just got slapped with a citation for possesion of less than 1 oz of marijuanna, i told the officer i was a year younger than i really am, i am 18, but i told him 17 because i didnt have an id, what could i do to clear thing up before my court date

The lie, was a separate offense, which can complicate things. You should definitely consider hiring an attorney. The marijuana possession offense, in itself, however is a petty offense. No jail time but expect to pay a fine plus P&A, and probation.
