Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I plead not guilty, the judge sets a court date, do I have a right to request a copy of the evidence against me and a list of wittiness names?

yes as to the DA file, complaint, etc, it should have been provided at the time of arraignment, so make sure you get it now.

The witness list is a different story, as the DA may have confidential informants, or protected witnesses, or rebuttal witnesses. You'll have to ask and see what happens.

No one should be representing themself in criminal defense cases, even if they 'know what they are doing'. Asking your question demonstrates you do not. Hire good local counsel.
