can a police officer search your car if your not doing anything wrong

Generally a law enforcement officer cannot search your vehicle without "probable cause" based on articurlable facts, or consent, or possibly exigent circumstances. Can he? Of course. IF charged with a crime based on anything he found, you'd have rights to bring a motion to suppress evidence improperly obtained. .
