Police searches

Can the police while arresting one person take that person's house keys and then let themselves into the apartment and arrest someone else?

Possibly; it depends upon the circumstances. You have not provided enough information about what happened, so I can't say whether the police acted properly or not.

They did, didn't they? So they CAN. Whether you can suppress any evidence gathered will depend on the facts and circumstances. You establish that you should get an experienced ttorney to represent you in the case, to file appropriate motions, conduct the trial, etc. Feel free to contact me if in SoCal area.

They obviously can, or you would not be submitting this question. The question is was the arrest legal. That is did the police have a warrant for the persons arrest, or was there some exigent circumstance that justified entry into the residence. Discuss the matter with your attorney. If you do not have an attorney then retain one.
