Posession of forged federal seal
I got pulled over for expired registration, police searched my car and found social sec. cards and one ID that had other names in someone elses stuff left in my car . Told police who the bag of stuff belonged to. Too bad one the SS cards was a forgery, in my car..means in my possesion. Got arrested. Did not receive a free phone call, police did find marijuana in my car also, but was not on police report, actually put in their own pocket prior to entering station. Was question next day by detectives, no attorney present, was advised of my rights so i guess that is my fault? , told them same thing...who stuff belonged to, gave name and birthdate of individual. I guess my question is what are my rights? How do I know if any errors were made when I was arrested/processed? I have no money...am single mom so I cannot afford an attorney and am wary of public defenders. What should I do?
Re: Posession of forged federal seal
This is not a do-it-yourself moment. You need to be represented by an attorney - no shortcuts or magic alternatives here. I would not automatically mistrust public defenders. A lot of them are dedicated and skilled, unfortunately, they do not have the time to devote to your individual case the way a private lawyer would. Still, if you do not have the funds to hire a lawyer, that is your only alternative.
