Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

possession of meth and pipe

My husband was arrested early this morning (about 6 hours ago) on those charges. I was there but they sent me home, but also arrested his cousin. How long should I expect to have to wait for him to get his phone call? Neither of them have any prior drug convictions or felonies. There was less than $5 worth of meth in the car and a pipe. What do you think they're looking at? Thank you in advance.

If this is a first offense, they will not likely go to jail, and be required to participate in some kind of drug rehabilitation program. Chances are they will also be released without bail very soon.
