Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

private lawyer too expensive can i request PD in next hearing?

At my previous court date the lawyer whom i was in talks with faxed a letter to the judge asking if my court date could be pushed back in order for us to come to an agreement and for him to go over the case. I was going to borrow money from a family member to pay for his services, but they were not able to loan me the money. Can i ask the judge in my next court date to appoint a Pd for me? Can i give that as my reason to the judge to allow the appointment of a pd?

Yes, the fact that you were not able to come to terms with or afford a private lawyer should be a good reason to have PD appointed. As long as you acted in good faith and not for the purpose of any unnecessary delays, the court should be sympathetic to your situation.
