Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was in the process of filing in a petition for dismissal of my petty theft 1 year ago. But i was on the sacramento country website and it said that my conviction is dismissed (b/c i paid all court fees, and took a class, and have not commited any new crimes). Does that mean that my misdemeanor is really dismissed and there is no need to file a petition?

Also, on job applications, will I be able to say I was convicted since it is dismissed? Does that apply for state jobs as well (such as student assistent jobs for the state)?

Dismissal does not mean it has been expunged. You will still need to file for expungement to be able to say that you have no priors on job applications. I believe this is what you are actually hoping to accomplish.
