Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i got pulled over for not having a front license plate and when the cop came to the window he smell marijuana. so i gave it to him it was less then 1oz. he gave me a misdemeanor for possess of marjuana. 11357b hs, he never took me to jail or put cuffs me, and before this i have a clean record nothin on it. what should i do?

You may want to speak to an attorney who is familiar with these minor prosecutions in your area. I know some city attorneys who offer a deal where the defendant attends some meetings at narcotics anonymous, and then they dismiss the charge when he is successful. Other city attorneys will insist on a guilty plea, and an assessment of fines.
