Depending upon the conviction, you may be able to get it expunged so you can say 'no' to conviction on most job applications. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing so, and the case was in SoCal courts.

Records are sealed only in extraordinary circumstances and for compelling reasons. The desire of a convict to prevent employers from finding out about his record isn't remotely close to meeting these standards. Everyone who has been convicted of a crime would want to do this, but the reason our government maintains such records in the first place is to make sure they are available to the public. Sealing the records of every convict who wants them sealed would defeat this purpose.

If your criminal history is relatively minor you may be able to get it expunged. If you have a more substantial history I'm afraid you are stuck with it unless you are able to either prove in court that you are actually innocent or get a pardon. Efforts to do either of these things rarely succeed.
