You're being accused of a form of theft. Because of the long-lasting consequences of a theft conviction, my answer to your question of what should you do? Is this:

Do NOT answer any questions about this. No facebook, no myspace, etc. Get a good criminal defense attorney in your area and discuss how to best defend yourself. Do it NOW. Rather than waiting until you go to court. There may be ways to minimize this and get a better outcome, but you need to act quickly.

You should seek the advice of a highly qualified criminal defense attorney immediately. I assume you have not pled guilty yet, so before you do anything that could impact your life forever, talk to an attorney. He/she has to be told all the facts so they can give you the best feedback and analyze the best course of action. Make the call. David Wallin

Theft/embezzlement conviction will have lasting consequences and therefore you will need to be smart about doing everything you can to avoid a conviction. Do not talk about this case to anyone other than your own lawyer. Call at least a couple of attorneys to see who might be right for you. Absolutely do not talk to investigators or prosecutors and do not attempt to represent yourself.

Plead guilty and go to jail/prison, OR hire an attorney to defend it with whatever fact and evidence you may have available. If you're serious about doing so, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
