Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

while visiting oregan someone put a (legal in Oregon) assult rifel in the bed of my truck.i got caught with it driving home in calif. the person who put it their will testify it belonged to him but I'm a felon.will I do time?

That depends upon your attorney being able to get you a 'great' plea bargain that keeps you out of prison/jail, or at least minimizes it. If instead, you are convicted at trial, or plead straight up, of 'felon in possession' of firearm, and possession of illegal assault rifle, you will most certainly do significant 'time'. You do understand, don't you, that CA is virulently anti-gun and anti-felon in its policies?? You face '3 Strikes' enhancement because of your prior felony/strike.
