Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I used to work at a family owned market.(my baby's dad and his father own it} all his family works there too. including his sister, who didn't like the idea of me working there.she would always be talking bad things about me with other worker, which i ignored until she started saying that i was stealing. which of course is not true. one day i confronted her inside the store's office, things got out of hand and i slapped her. her husband got in and pushed me, they called the police and they pressed charges on me.I didn't press charges on the husband. I didn't think it was a big deal. But now i have court. should i plea guilty? my public defender thinks i should take it to trial.

Since you already have a lawyer, you should probably heed her advice. Getting a second opinion may be wise, but to do so you and the second lawyer will need to discuss your case in far more detail than is possible on this site. The general guidance available here is no substitute for the specific advice you are already getting from a lawyer who knows much more about your case than we do.
