If a dentis accepts medical insurance,and a patient misses an appt but forgot to call to cancel.Can the dr refuse to treat them,and said the reason is because i am a medical pt.I can not miss any appts because i am on medical.This was done to me but i was never told this policy exsisted,and when i asked for the policy in writting.I was told there is no policy in writtting,and was told in a very rude manner go some where else!!

This is not a legal issue, it is a courtesy issue. When a professional, whether they be a lawyer, doctor, dentist, or anyone else, schedules an appointment for someone to use their services, that time is being set aside for them which could have been scheduled for someone else. If you cannot make that appointment, it is a matter of common courtesy to call and cancel so other arrangements can be made. Forgetting to call is not an excuse.

The dentist has the right to refuse to treat you for this reason. There does not have to be anything on writing upon which to base refusal of treatment. It is a matter of common sense. If you can't make an appointment, call to cancel.
