Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

are independent contractors included in descrimation terms?

My husband is an independent contractor who signed a contract with a company for services. The company is in breech of the contract anyway but he feels like the breech was because they found out he is from Iran and they are all from Russia and Jewish. As far as we know there is not one person in the corp. that is not Russian and Jewish. Because of the breech and non-payment of the contract we have been evicted from our home and will have problems with advertising contracts signed by my husband with their consent.

Of course, your husband should have a breach of contract claim, as well as other related claims. As for discrimination, in California, there is a law known as the Unruh Civil Rights Act that may apply, if your husband can prove that the company has discriminated against him due to his race, religion or nationality.
