Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

My son was let go at his job. He was an armed security guard. He worked for at least 8 months. He was told to come into work early. When he got there, they told him to hand over his gun and badge. He has written and called multiple times and has had no explaination of why he was let go. He worked at Ameriguard Security and the contract was with the FAA. Should he seek legal action.

Employment in California is generally at-will, which means a person can quit at any time, or he/she can be fired at any time, for no reason or any reason except illegal reasons such as discrimination or whistleblowing. If your son believes that, for instance, he was the victim of racial discrimination, then he might have protection under the law. On the other hand, if the employer didn't like the way he conducted his job -- even if it never told him -- what the company did might not have violated any law.
