Legal Question in DUI Law in California

4 DUI's

My friend has 4 DUI's, two of them were from 12yrs ago and the other two were from 3 and 7yrs ago. They did partial programs, but did not finish them. They have a job now and want to get their life back, they are going to court to take care of the 4 DUI's. As a friend I was wondering w/the 4 DUI's, how would the court charge them?

Re: 4 DUI's

The court is not going to look kindly on your friend, I'm afraid, unless there are good reasons for not completing the programs.

However, that being said: I recently went to court for someone who had not finished a program after he had been sentenced about 4 years ago. The judge dismissed the case because I went in there with good reasons for why he went AWOL.

I also recently caused a probation violation on a felony to be dismissed and in fact cause the person to be relieved of the terms of probation after she left California without permission and didn't report to her probation officer.

This is not good that he has 4 DUIs and didn't complete the programs for any of them, but it's good that it's been 3 years since the last one.

I would not go in without an attorney. There's a high possibility that the judge will take him into custody.
