dui court appearence question

hi i got arrested for a dui first time couple weeks back and have hearing at chico municipal court the 16th of this month aug. i have important meeting in sacramento that day i cant cancel job related etc . can they postpone or move 1st court appearence or hearing date, to few days or week later.1 st appearence for dui. thanks! dont want to get warrant or charge for failure to appear . can or will they move hearing ? thanks!-im 33

If you hire a private attorney, you will not have to go to court at all. If you do not wish to hire an attorney, you can see if the case has been filed and then advance it to an earlier date. Try to go in early and explain your situation to the judge and see if you can have a continuation on your arraingment-if that is the court date in question-or hire a lawyer and he will appear for you which may be a good idea for you anyway.
