Re: dui

Alcohol is a legal substance in California. There are laws such as DUI laws that make it illegal to have too much alcohol and then to drive. Some people on probation or parole are disallowed from drinking alcohol.

If there is not some other legal reason which would make alcohol "illegal" for you, then alcohol in and of itself is legal.

Re: dui

The short answer is yes, however, if you were ordered by the court (as a term or condition of your probation) not to engage in the consumption of alcohol (or intoxicating liquors), then your answer is no you will violate your probation by drinking alcohol. You should refer to the sentencing paperwork you were given in court, it should tell you whether you can drink at all or if you are banned from driving after drinking alcohol.
