Legal Question in DUI Law in California

House arrest

My boyfriend is currently in jail for DUI. We are not sure exactly when he will get out. There is a possibility of house arrest. We are going to get a place together. Right now he is using his aunts address, will he be able to change his address when I find a place or would he have to stay at his aunts house the entire time.

Re: House arrest

If your boyfriend is in jail he must be facing very serious DUI related charges, he should seek legal advice.

The availability of house arrest varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and judge to judge. If house arrest is available and your boyfriend is permitted to serve his sentence on house arrest then where he serves it is at home, if he moves the court will need to be notified and the company or agency providing the service will charge you to move whatever equipment is part of the house arrest.
