Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I live in California, and I received a dui in one county (alameda) and finished the requirements by the court and DMV. I then received another DUI in another county (contra costa) and the court issued me to another 3 month program. I finished this as well. My license was suspended for two years. Next month, the two years are up. But, when I contacted DMV they said that you need to take an 18 month program. I just told the DMV that I did what the court ordered me to do, my two years are up and I do not have money to pay for an 18 month program. What should I do?

You need to do the 18 month program. The fact that the courts didn't catch a seperate conviction and make you do the 18 month school is not binding on the DMV.

Sorry, but the DMV will require the 18 month program. You didn't get any real favors with the court only imposing the 3 month program, since the DMV has the final say with your license, not the court.

You don't 'have' to take the 18 month program, but you won't get your license back until you do.
