Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Minor in posession of alochol

I'm 17, was at the beach and got caught with a beer in my hand. I was written up for an MIP 25662(A) infraction. This is my first offense, and have never gotten in trouble with the courts/law before. What am I looking at as possible outcomes?

Re: Minor in posession of alochol

Thanks for your inquiry.

Every law has a minimum and a maximum. You may also have factual or legal defenses that apply in your case, and other factors, such as your prior record, and the habits of the sentencing judge, the personality of the DA, or the local rules for the court you're pending out of may affect what you're looking at in the way of outcomes.

In general, you may plead guilty or not guilty at the arraignment, and you are given time to get an attorney, if you don't have one already, or appointed a public defender. The court may make an offer at your arraignment date for you to take if you plead guilty.

I hope this helps, but if you want more information, have other questions, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. I am happy to help in any way that I can.
