Legal Question in DUI Law in California

First offense DUI, what is going to happen to me?

I was recently convicted of a first offense DUI in San Bernardino County. What is going to happen to me? Would it be advisable for me to get a lawyer or would that just be a waste of money? What are the chances that I will get my driver's license taken away for a year? How often does that occur and under what circumstances?

First, there are a lot of factors involved in a DUI that need to be sorted out. Were you convicted after a trial? or did you enter a plea of guilty or no contest? Was there an accident and property damage involved? Are you under 21? Please provide more detail, and I'll see if I can help you. Good Luck.

I don't understand what you mean by recently convicted and you don't know what is going to happen to you, and you think you need a lawyer. You must have been arrested. And charges have or will be filed against you.

My advice depends on whether you are 21 or over? But regardless of your age, you need to request a DMV APS hearing within 10 days of your arrest.

I would hire a lawyer if I were you.

If you were 'convicted', you already know the penalties because the judge told them to you at sentencing. If you were only just arrested, you should get counsel to help you minimize the penalties. The sooner the better, because, among other things, the DMV appeal must be done promptly to avoid a year's automatic suspension. Contact me if interested.
