what does VC indicate on a jail booking charge when looking it up on someone that was booked into county jail on a DUI charge?

The VC is the Vehicle Code. I assume they were booked on VC 23152(a) and 23152(b) - those are the standard misdemeanor DUI charges. If it was 23153, then it's DUI with injury - a potential felony.

Something to be aware of - the person arrested only has 10 days to contact the DMV and set up a hearing or their license will automatically be suspended. They should contact a local criminal defense attorney before that 10 days to discuss the case and fighting the DMV.
