Legal Question in Education Law in California

Divorced parents disagree on schooling

My ex-husband and I disagree about where to send our son. He insists on a private, religious school. I insist on public school. We did our own divorce, no lawyers or court appearances. Is there a law which dictates public school, or must we go to court? What is my next step?

If you would like your child to get a better education, send him to a private school. Tell your ex that, if he wants him to go to a private school, he will need to pay for it. Finally, perhaps you can compromise, if your issue is that it is a religeous school. Ask for a non-religeous private school.
