Legal Question in Elder Law in California

Hi, I have a mother who has been placed into a skilled nurses facility, and no one will tell her children where she is. Now her oldest of us 5 kids is about to die. She has maybe a day or two left to life, and my aunts and uncle REFUSE to tell her or let us know where she is. She technically is still married to our father. Though they have not been together in years, they are still married. Does the siblings of our mother have the right to keep her location from her four adult kids and her husband? We dont even know if they are holding her against her will, we have no idea what is going on with her. This is ridiculous.... please advise...

You need to talk to a lawyer in person. This is a complicated situation. Far too complicated for an internet Q&A format.

Agreed. In particular, you need someone who handles elder law matters, including matters of elder abuse and conservatorships.

You also need to do this sooner rather than later. Time is not your friend here.

Mr. Feldman is absolutely correct - isolating a senior from family members and advisers such as his or her lawyer or accountant is a classic symptom of elder abuse.
