nursing homes negliance

4 months of severe skin infection with secondary infection with scabies. the nursing home bills my drug prescription plan over 600.00 when its their fault. can anything be done. thank you

I might suggest, first, you report the problem to the Department of Health, Licensing and Certification Division.

if there is abuse, and it sounds like there may be, report it ASAP.

if you're trying to shift the costs of treatment, write them a letter and threaten legal action if they don't cover the costs.

In order to pursue any claim of medical negligence, you'll need to have a doctor willing to say that it is. Obviously, the attending doctor in the home is not likely to do so. You need to have family or friends get a doctor to come visit you for examination and opinion, or take you to one. You should also call one or more of these = Social Services - Adult Protective Services, Public Guardian, Public Health Services, Consumer Services, Senior Citizens Assistance, Calif Medical Board, etc. Feel free to contact me for more specific info and help if you wish.
