Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Using Internet Photos for Comedy

I recently wrote a comedy sketch that involves joking about photos of people that I found online. I do not have the permission of the people in the photos (nor do I know them or their names), but their pictures were easily found with a simple google search. Since I do my act at clubs and colleges and am often paid for my work, I thought it might be good to find out if I was open to any type legal action from the people in the photos.

Re: Using Internet Photos for Comedy

Unfortunately, it's a small world, and it will likely as not turn out that one of the people in the photos will be the mother of the club owner or of the famous Hollywood agent who came to see your act. Recommend you shoot or otherwise locate photos of people who have given you releases.
