Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

a minors rights after appearing on a talk show

My 16 year old son appeared on the leeza gibbons show taping on 3-10-99. He was told that the show would be an open forum for teenagers to discuss their viewpoints on race, and homosexuality. He was lied to, attacked and badgered. we feel that he was set up from the beginning. We would like to know if there is any way that we can keep the show from being veiwed, or if we can have my son edited out. Please help us........ We did sign a release to have him appear on the show.

Re: a minors rights after appearing on a talk show

The appearance on the show is governed both by the terms of the release, and the truthfulness of the representations made to induce the signing of the release. If there was fraud in the inducement, even if the release appears to bar an action against the producers, an action, including a restraining order and injuction against broadcasting, is available. There may be, however, a prohibitively expensive fidelity bond required as a condition of restraint.
