Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

model talent manager

my friends daughter wants me to be her manager. I have alot of connections in the modeling industry, so I agreed to manage her and get her an agent etc...What percentage commission can I ask for and does it come off the gross amount? Also do I need a business license in CAlif? I am not getting her work just an agent. And then I may do alot of supportive work to get her career moving forward in the right direction and motivating the agents to push her etc...Now do i need her to sign a contract stating I am her personal manager etc? and how much commission I will receive? I want the agents to feel like I am a legit manager. How much do you charge to write up a basic contract?

Re: model talent manager

Hello,

Yes, you definitely need a contract. That will make you look legitimate to third parties and help you avoid any misunderstandings with your friend and her daughter. Most managers receive 20% commission off the gross.

Email me directly at [email protected] and I can quote you a price (I don't like quoting legal fees on this public database).

Thank you,

Richard
