Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Music permission

I would like to make a music video based on an old vidoe made in the early 90's. It's more a parody of the original video. It will be for commercial gain. Even if it is a patady of the original do I still need permission?

Re: Music permission

You can either pay the owners of the rights to the original or make sure that yours is different enough to avoid paying them. But the best approach is probably to pay the ones you can from your profits so you can make yours better.
