You need to provide a lot more information. What is the nature of your claim? What does it have to do with the County of Sacramento? What exactly happened in October 2008?

Hi: I hope you are having a great evening.

The Statute of Limitations against a government entity, such as a City often is very short, commonly only 6 months. One must file an Administrative Claim against the City within 6 months of the date of the incident or very possibly be forever barred. This is in additional to other important Statutes of Limitation not addressed herein.

I cannot tell the nature of your claim from the little information provided. If it involves an underground fuel leak, then there are many important issues. Same may include issues of pollution to land and ground water.

Similarly, issues of remediation and cost recovery become important. Sources for recovery might include negligent government entities, the person that spilled / prior owners, insurance policies (even old ones for prior owners) and reimbursement from the State Tank Fund. This is a very specialized and complicated area of law. I have a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. I am a Registered Environmental Assessor and an Attorney.

Please contact my office if you would like legal advice or assistance specific to your issue.

Thanks,

Herm
