Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have a 17 year old son who has spent the summer with me. He does not want to go back to his fathers..We have joint custody... What can I do to keep my son with me? I am on permanent disability. We were divorced in Tennessee, my ex lives in FLA and I live in CA. There has been reported child abuse in the fathers home. Please help.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to begin, at least, in Tennessee. Tennessee has jurisdiction. You could ask the Tennesee court to transfer the case, which they would likely do, but then you might wind up in Florida, particularly if your son spends more than 50% of his time there under the current order. Since he is 17, it also is hardly worth it to transfer the case. Your best bet is to contact a Family Law attorney in Tennessee and have them file for a custody modification there.
