Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hello and thank you for your advice.

Recently I received a call from a past girlfriend that I was involved with 23 years ago. She just told me we have a 22 year old daughter. When we had been together 23 years ago, she had told me she was pregnant and wanted to abort the baby, start seeing an old boyfriend that was getting out of jail, so I needed to leave her and not come back. I gave her $250 for the procedure and did not see her again. We were in California when we were together and now she lives in Georgia and I am still in California. She let the child believe that her father was someone other then me.

What I want to know is will I owe back child support if I might be the biological father?

Also, I would like to get to know my possible daughter and granddaughter, but would this put me more at risk of having to owe back child support if I do?

Kind regards,

You wouldn't owe back child support unless there was an order in place that she obtained when the child was a minor. You need to find out whether she, or the government on her behalf, filed a child support case.
