what is the age in CA that a child can decide which parent to live with?

As a child at the age of 10 i was allowed to go before the court and say i want to live with my mother. now in 2005 i would like to know what is the age that a judge will allow a child to decide which parent they want to live with permently?

age 18 before that the court may consider the desires of the child but is not bound by that request.
