Legal Question in Family Law in California

By applying several credit cards on his own name and not paying for them, my husband accumulated huge credit card debts. He refuses to talk with me on the issue. He does not work. We live in California where the debts of either spouse can be waged against community property by debtors. What should I do?

Since you're at risk from the spending habits of your husband, if there any, you should close all joint charge accounts, and establish your own individual credit (I presume you're working but if not then be careful).

You can try and give notice to the creditors that you're not liable, but its legal effect is dubious since the law still controls. It might help in any collection case against you if you did that.
