child custody

My ex wife wants to move to Texas from here in California with my kids ( ages 6 & 7 ). Can she just take them with out my permission? We have joint custody.

Can she physically take them, yes she could. She may violate court orders and lose custody. She should receive permission from you or from the court to move the children. I recently taught an attorney's seminar on the right of a parent to change the residence of the child. There are many factors which a judge would consider in making the decision.
