In a child support case they said that they would take my federal income tax to pay back the arrears.... my question is I never received a notice but yet I haven't filed yet. Will they take it without notice , and will they take the entire check or just what I owe??

They will take it without further notice. When the government issues a refund it will be held to pay the back support. If what you owe is less than the refund, you will get a check for the balance. If what you owe is equal to or more than the refund, they will take it all.
