Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child support
My ex husband owed me 17,000 in back child support. His work was giving him problems with the wage garnishment so I dropped the case against him. But, before I did that I had him sign a paper stating that he would pay me that money owed to me. He signed it, his parents signed it as witness' and i signed it. he wont pay me the money. So can I take him to court to get that money or is the signed paper worthless?

If in exchange for dropping the wage garnishment, he promised to pay you the money in a particular timely manner, you may have an enforceable contract. Otherwise, you may also apply for another wage garnishment. Call me directly at (619) 222-3504.
