Child support is set in California by a computer program. The amount of support is based on the amount of gross income of each parent and amount of time each child is with each parent. The court can order the payment of child support. The only method of forced payment of child support is a wage assignment. Criminal charges are available but do not emphasize collection of the money, but rather punishment for non failure to pay support.
