Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have two convictions of possessing controled substance and a petty theft on record. Recently my daughter came to my house for a sleep over at 7pm .she was picked up around noon the next day. Police were at my door 3 minutes later. They searched the house and found marijuana, 2 hydrocodone and multiple hypodermic needles in the kitchen cupboard and in the back room. There was nothing found in the room my daughter and i stayed in. They are trying to charge me with p.c.273a willful intent to harm i think it is... i have had 3 public defenders give me the run down. The first said that the p.c.273a will be dropped and not to worry. But i have a new public defense that told me the charge will stick and i may do 6 months county jail and classes and counceling etc. What is the likelyhood that i would get the max time served (6 months) for this? I pleaded not guilty in court. Can you give me some advice please?!? Should i try and get an attorney on my own? Will it be fairly simple to prove my inocense in court? How do i go about proving myself innocent in this matter?
