Legal Question in Family Law in California

Which is better??

My cousin age 21 is separated from her husband lst week, who has not had a job since they have been married for the last 3 years, and doesnt really know what to do because she also doesn not have any money, no one in our family will help either, but she wants to get a divorce. The question is should she ask for child support or can she just refuse it from her ex to move things along quicker? I doubt her ex would get a job anyways to support the 2 kids since they have been on welfare all this time anyway. What can she do?

Re: Which is better??

She should look for a legal clinic or a family law clinic at the superior court. Also if there has been any type of domestic violence she should contact a local domestic violence shelter. Child support will be taken care by the local child support services department.
