discontinue an action

my soon to be ex filed papers in california with my name is the petitioner to save him money

it states that my daughter and i live in california which is not true

i live in canada with my daughter

i signed the first round of papers before i had a lawyer look at them

then i was told not to sign and to file in canada now i have been asked to go to court in sandiego

If i am to appear in court can i have this case thrown out or changed to have the proper information included or do i need to hire a lawyer in california?

you are dealing with a jurisdictional issue and the various outcomes depend on a variety of facts. I would suggest you hire a lawyer in San Diego. They will be ablr to advise you about the various jurisdictional issues and the chances of proceeding in Canada or California.
