Legal Question in Family Law in California

divorce is not final

My ex's attorney has the signed judgment to get my divorce finalized. My ex's attorney won't file it because my ex owes him money. Can his attorney do that? My attorney feels that she has done her part and won't respond. What can I do to get this divorce finalized?

Re: divorce is not final

You could substitute your attorney out and try to handle the matter with a new attorney or by yourself. The Judge is the ultimate authority as to whether a Judgment is final. Basically, you would have to try and get this matter before your Judge for a final resolution.
